P90X or Insanity Workout – Which Should You Do?

When looking for an intense at-home fitness program, the big question is always, “Should I do P90X or Insanity?” Both DVD fitness programs will get you in great shape! Let’s take a closer look at each one.

P90X with Tony Horton

For me, P90X is the best fitness program. I love resistance training and this one includes lot of resistance workout routines. You need equipment like dumbbells, resistance bands, and a pullup bar.

The variety in the workouts keeps you doing something different from day to day. This challenges your body, giving you more confidence every time you complete a routine. The P90X Yoga X and Plyo X workouts were the most challenging for me. I never thought I’d be doing twisting half-moon and jump knee tucks! The variation of moves and the pace in which you do them keeps the routines moving along. You also get the expert guidance and motivation from Tony Horton.

There are so many forms of physical activity in this 90-day program that you won’t get bored.
Insanity with Shaun T

Insanity will rock your cardio like never before. I was a little scared of the Insanity workout before I started. It definitely stays true to its name – it’s INSANE! If you want to challenge yourself, then Insanity is for you! There is no equipment required.

Shaun T’s intense interval training will drive you to your cardiac limits. There was a lot of huffing and puffing and jogging in place for me to get through some of these workouts. The first month isn’t so bad especially if you’re fresh off a round of P90X. But once you get into month 2, which includes Max workouts, it makes month 1 look easy.

Insanity workout was very rewarding for me because my cardio is insane. If you don’t have a strong workout ethic, it may drive you to quit early! If you are up for a good challenge, then go for it! Shaun T is an amazing motivator, always pushing everyone to do more!

Both P90X and Insanity will give you a lean, fit body! Which one will you do?

Be Consistent to Reach Your Health and Fitness Goals

One of the best things you can do to reach your health and fitness goal is to be consistent! Working out and eating healthy food is great, but if you don’t have consistency it won’t matter. Working out twice a week and eating nutritious foods once in a while won’t get you where you want to go.

I know. You are thinking, “It’s hard to be consistent!” We all deal with that as life has a tendency to get in the way. But so do our poor excuses and laziness. Here are a few things you can implement to help you stay on track:

  • Set Goals – Set weekly goals to follow. Start out with “baby steps” and work up to bigger ones. Keep them realistic to avoid disappointment.
  • Get a Partner – Try to find someone that wants to embark on your journey with you. You can then keep each other accountable for you workouts and diet.
  • Empty Those Cabinets – Throw out (yes you read that correctly) all your junk food at home! Take away the temptation and it will be much easier to succeed!
  • Make Small Changes to Your Diet – Most people’s diets fail them because they try to abandon their old eating habits all at once. Some people may be all or nothing but not all. Slowly work more fruits and veggies and healthier meals into your daily routines.
  • Schedule Your Workouts - Give your workouts priority! Our lives are very busy so schedule in time for your workout just like any other important meeting or appointment.
  • Keep Your Workouts Fresh – Change up your workouts and try new things to stave off boredom. Most people quit because they are bored or plateau. Keeping things new and exciting will keep you interested and motivated.

These are just a few things you can do! Remember CONSISTENCY IS KEY! Being healthy and fit isn’t an overnight process. It takes time and energy but is one of the best investments you can make.

Eat a Healthy Diet for Fitness Results

Are you one of those people who think that your diet does not affect the results of your workouts? Think again! You can exercise six days a week, 90 minutes a day religiously but if your diet is poor you won’t see the results you are seeking. Your diet directly affects your results!

You can rip through 90 days of P90X and get some good results but you won’t see the real change unless you get your diet in order. The nutrition plans that come with the workout programs like Insanity, P90X, and ChaLEAN Extreme are there for a reason. These plans are specifically tailored to each program to help you get the maximum result from the effort you put out.

I know, you are thinking: No one is perfect and ice cream tastes fantastic! If you are caught in a moment of food weakness, you just have to decide whether or not that ice cream cone or slice of cake is really worth it! If you absolutely have to have a dessert, then try these tips to lessen the bad effect:

  • Share your dessert! Get 2 spoons and only eat half.
  • Adjust your meal to allow for the extra calories. Order extra veggies and avoid carbs with your meal to leave caloric room for your dessert.
  • Substitute a healthy food like strawberries in place of that sweet treat. – BEST OPTION

Having a perfect diet is almost impossible with our busy lives and also with the way food is grown and packaged. It really comes down to choices.

We are the only ones that have the power to change what goes into our bodies. Read the ingredients and the nutritional information on everything you eat. This is just a small step that can save you thousands of calories and stop you from putting unnecessary junk into your body. Cut out the junk food for good and you will see an amazing difference in the way you look and feel!

Still having a hard time with eating nutritionally dense foods? Shakeology can help solve that! With over 70 good-for-ingredients per serving, Shakeology provides the nutrition that you are missing.

Exercise Rest and Recovery – Why You Need It

I get many questions from clients about rest, recovery, and stretching after exercise. How much rest do I need? Do I really need to stretch? Both are vital components in your fitness regimen. Let’s take a look at rest first.

Your body needs time to repair and recover. Especially when it comes to extreme workouts like P90X and Insanity. Sometimes a rest day is the best thing you can do for your body. When you workout, you create microscopic tears in your muscles. When you are resting, your body will begin to repair these tears utilizing proteins and amino acids that you are hopefully providing with a recovery drink after your workouts. This is what will lead to building lean muscle.

Rest doesn’t just include days off from training. It also includes sleep! The body does most of it’s repair work when you are sleeping. So be sure to give yourself a minimum of six hours. Eight is the optimum number but just not a reality for some.

Stretching is also key and should be implemented into your workout routine. There are many benefits to stretching no matter what age or fitness level.

Here’s a few:

  • Reduced muscle tension
  • Enhanced muscular coordination
  • Increased circulation of blood to various parts of the body
  • Increased energy from the increase in circulation

Stretching doesn’t requite a huge time commitment. Simple stretch techniques can be done while watching TV or before bed. If you are weight training you can stretch between sets as you don’t increase your gym time.

Daily stretching should be done even if you aren’t working out on a regular basis. It can lengthen your muscles and increase range of motion thus preventing injury and making daily activities easier. Also a post-workout stretch can help reduce muscle soreness and speed up recovery.

Implement these two important components into your daily routines to get the maximum benefit out of not only your workouts but also more importantly your body!

Why You Need Yoga X in Your P90X Workout

I hear so many people complain about P90X Yoga X. “It’s too long.” “Yoga X is too hard.” “Who needs Yoga! Not me.” Does that sound like you?

These people just don’t understand what yoga does for your body and why it’s needed, especially when doing an extreme workout like P90X. Yoga X is the one workout that will pull you through all of the rest of the workouts.

The first 45 minutes are the hardest. If you just relax, breath and focus, it really isn’t that tough. Yes, some of the moves are a little intense, such as Twisting Half-Moon and Extended Right Angle pose. But one of the great things about P90X is you can modify any exercise until you can master it!

When you do an at-home workout program like P90X, you can modify an exercise, take a break, or hang out in child’s pose. There is no one around to judge you. At the end of the moving Asanas when Tony Horton says, “Last vinyasa of the day,” it’s a huge sense of accomplishment knowing that the hardest part is over.

Yoga keeps your body young and calms the mind. It will work all of your weak spots whether it’s flexibility, coordination, strength or balance. With hard work and persistence you will definitely see vast improvements in these areas.

If you really can’t hack the hour and a half, you have options! You can substitute P90X One on One Yoga – Fountain of Youth for Yoga X.

It’s an equally effective workout in half the time. It’s also perfect if you like Yoga X but just don’t have the time for it.

Yoga X is very important to your success so stick with it and it will pay you back tenfold.

Does Shakeology Really Work? Yes, It Does!

When I first started researching Shakeology meal replacement shake, I didn’t know what it was or if it was worth it. How many health related products out there promise something fantastic and actually deliver? Not many.

Yes, I was a Shakeology skeptic from the start. After investigating the facts and testimonials, I became a believer in the claims of this superfood meal replacement shake.

My wife talked about getting into shape and losing weight after having our second child but she never got around to it. This was the perfect chance for her to get started with P90X and drink Shakeology meal replacement shake to achieve her goal. I shared the information about the natural ingredients, essential vitamins and nutrients and she agreed to give it a try! We took the first step and ordered. When Shakeology finally arrived, I was more excited about it then my wife was.

She started drinking Shakeology every day. I noticed a change in her before she did. She wasn’t complaining about being exhausted anymore which was her number one issue. After working all day and coming home to care for two small children, she was usually tired and workouts were a challenge.

Now, she not only completes her P90X workouts but also adds a second workout on most days. She said to me, “Wow honey I’ve never finished P90X Yoga X before!” What a turnaround from her previous attempts at P90X! This is coming from a person who used to hate working out! She is also dropping weight on a consistent basis and fits into a bikini for the first time in 4 years!

Experiencing these amazing results in the way she looks and feels keeps her committed to her fitness goal. Losing weight each week is a great motivator! Paired with improved diet and a consistent exercise program, Shakeology is a fantastic way to get results and the best meal replacement shake I’ve ever had.

Don’t be a skeptic like me. Shakeology is worth every penny!

P90X Results and Recovery Drink – Why It’s Important

If you do extreme fitness programs, life without the P90X Results and Recovery Formula is sore and sad. There is a reason why trainers like Tony Horton and Shaun T stress drinking the P90X Recovery Formula after an extreme workout. The big question is why should you spend the extra money?

Here are a few benefits you get when using this post-workout drink:

  • Taste! I have tried many different muscle recovery supplements out there and this one is by far on the top of the list for taste. The smooth orange flavor takes you back to when you were a kid standing on the sidewalk eating an orange creamsicle! Can’t get much better than that.
  • Speeds up recovery time. Four parts carbohydrates to one part protein ensures fast muscle repair. This is vital in your journey to building lean muscle. It will also keep muscle soreness to a minimum. If you are just starting P90X or Insanity or any workout program, you will be sore! If you push a little too hard before you know your limits you may not be able to move the next day and the P90X Results and Recovery Formula will get you through that.
  • It’s loaded with vitamins, including Vitamins C & D antioxidants to reduce the soreness.
  • The Results and Recovery Formula has simple and complex carbohydrates for peak glycogen replenishment. It gives you an energy boost when you are done!

Now I’m not saying that you won’t have any muscle soreness at all but the Results and Recovery Formula will definitely help reduce it. If you work out hard and are wiped out this just means that you have depleted your body’s store of glycogen in your liver and muscles.

The new formula is a huge improvement too! This recovery drink now contains dextrose as the sugar. Dextrose is D-glucose, the actual sugar that muscle cells use to replenish and get energy. This simple sugar is the major source of energy for many living organisms.

Don’t make the mistake that I did and ignore the advice of the experts. You need to replenish the nutrients in your body as soon as possible after a tough workout. Get P90X Results and Recovery formula and improve your workout results! You won’t be sorry.
